Dsquared2 S/S 2017

Mood board: Dean and Dan Caten dubbed their spring collection 'Uptown Meets Downtown On The Dance Floor' and we’ve got to hand it to them: that title fit the bill perfectly. Borrowing heavily from the exaggerated halls of high-glam, pop colored 1980s, the twin brothers took sharp shouldered dressing to a mash-up, maximilist-loving high.
Best in show: Though they jazzed up their cocktail dresses in wild confections of colorful silk, the real meal here was Dsquared’s bread and butter denim. Oversized jeans were cropped or worn long and treated to dappled acid washes, white-out bleaching, and rips filled with crystals and sequins. They looked perfectly dandy with the glitzy, embroidered jackets with huge puff sleeves.
Finishing touches: Grosgrain ribbons, worn around the waist or ankles gave these party girls a touch - just a touch - of uptown class. The jewelry meanwhile was magnificent, featuring painted enamel charms, eyes and hearts that were made into artistic collages hanging from the ears or around the neck.
