Lemaire A/W 2015

Mood board: The Lemaire woman mixes feminine and androgynous pieces to strikingly elegant effect. This first collection - under a newly condensed brand name that perfectly captures its less-is-more take on luxury - consisted of sharp lines that nonetheless possessed fluidity in motion. Dark trouser suits and imposing coats, tweed blankets, A-line dresses and bell sleeves combined with mid-high, cone-heeled leather boots, pumps or wedges, conveyed a mature femininity through practical and immaculate pieces.
Set story: Balmy morning light trickled in as models walked the soft red carpet in the Galerie Jules Verne, in the modern building of the national library of the French Republic – a keen contrast to the severe silhouettes in black, blue, brown, ecru and plum.
Finishing touches: There is no doubt that Christophe Lemaire and his team are pro ‘Free the Nipple’. Most shoulder bags were of the sturdy, bookish rectangular kind, but one design was sensual and provocative, its sculpted curves clearly depicting a woman’s chest.
