Scene setting: Philipp Plein's ‘Sportsworld Spectacular’ themed show started with nearly 40 minutes of pre-show entertainment including a gang of slam dunk acrobats from the Harlem Globetrotters spinning the ball and flying through the air, a troop of 20 plus cheerleaders in glowing neon and black leopards doing back flips, three sports-style mascots, a formal announcer and the rapper Busta Rhymes who treated the audience to a full musical performance before any clothes hit the runway.
Best in show: News on the fashion front was that Plein brought in colour for the first time introducing yellow and green into his normally pitch black palette. He also introduced his latest acquisition of the aptly named brand Billionaire Couture.
Finishing touches: LED flashing sneakers, big leather duffle bags carried by hand, and mirrored aviator sunglasses that matched the tattoos covering the entire torso of one guy, all fuelled this sports fantasy line up.
