Mood board: Giorgio Armani went back to basics in a terrific collection that focused on what he does best: beautiful fabrics, selected for their original hand and impossibly chic surfaces. This attention elevated loosened navy twill trousers to savoir status, while specially woven grey linen and cotton had the crispness of paper, as deep red houndstooth jackets glowed off the runway.
Best in show: Apart from the groupings of razor sharp, super chic black suiting worn tie-less with buttoned up shirts, our other favourite moment in this show was a white canvas trouser and safari jacket set printed with subtle grey tiny diamonds that packed a punch in its cool, graphic simplicity.
Finishing touches: Armani loves a hat and there were plenty here for headgear fanatics. But as for the best accessories? The footwear, which took traditional leather lace-up shoes and even Venetian-style red satin slippers and gave them a slick rubber bottom in contrasting bright white.
