The Wallpaper* 100: who are the design world's most wanted?

We photographed 10 of our major design players at the birthplace of Dom Pérignon, the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers in France. From left: Studio Job's Nynke Tynagel, Piero Lissoni, Jaime Hayon, M/M (Paris)'s Mathias Augustyniak, Studio Job's Job Smeets, Ron Arad, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, Michael Anastassiades and Patrick Seguin.

In our October issue - out now - we unveil the Wallpaper* 100: our list of the design world's most powerful players. A calculus of authority and influence, rank and standing, cash and credibility, it's our measure of the hard currency and soft power of the 2014 global design elite.

Produced in association with Dom Pérignon, our power list is the result of many hours of heated debate here at Wallpaper*, the loose application of a complex mathematical model, and consultation with an international panel of curators. We have calculated a number of factors - quality and consistency of output, of course, but also influence and, as much as possible, a market value and earning power. We have also limited ourselves to designers and interior architects, with the occasional educator and commercial patron thrown in.

In the image gallery above, we give you a glimpse of some of the design big guns who made it onto our list, including the likes of Ron Arad, Piero Lissoni and Peter Marino.

We understand that some of you may feel squeamish about such a league table and even more will contest its results. But come on, who doesn't love a list? Ultimately, we hope it inspires thought and debate.

Want to have your say? We'd like to hear who you feel are the design world's most important people.
