Roost Apartment Hotel — Philadelphia, USA

Looking to fill a gap in the market for long-term accommodation options in Philadelphia, entrepreneur Randall Cook, set out to launch Roost Apartment Hotel. Housed in the 1920s Charles S.W. Packard building in midtown, the property has been transformed into 27 residences by New York-based Morris Adjmi Architects, who have created a contemporary haven around original period details. As such, ornate vaulted ceilings and expansive factory-style windows are offset with modern lighting fixtures by Brooklyn-based firms, Roll & Hill and Workstead, coffee tables by Danish design house, Gubi and century old Turkmen rugs. And with weekly housekeeping services, a bicycle share programme and a 24-hour front desk concierge, chances are you might not end up missing your real home.
