Set within the bucolic grounds of the Château Smith Haut Lafitte vineyards in Bordeaux, hotel Les Sources de Caudalie, is the perfect getaway for those looking to rejuvenate and make the most of the fresh diet and healthy lifestyle that the southwestern corner of France has to offer.
Each of the 40 guest rooms and 21 suites are elegantly dressed, reflecting the owner’s signature ‘buco-chic’ style and referencing the region’s rich culture with elaborate paintings, antique furnishings, expressive fabrics and a rotund colour scheme. We suggest plumping for the the L’Ile aux Oiseaux Suite, the hotel’s original suite on stilts which - every few years - gets a contemporary makeover by a well-known fashion designer including Martin Margiela and Maxime Simoëns. The latest collaboration is the work of Parisian bridal wear designer, Delphine Manivet.
Inspired by ‘beneath the veil’, Manivet adorned the room with her signature vintage and couture fabrics, in a gossamery palette of whites, ranging from ivory to pearl, talc and cream. Feminine notes of seashell pink add warmth, while further texture and contrast is formed by the grey-stained solid oak parquet flooring and the anthracite Toulemonde Bochart rug. In the evening, the Métérorites de Artémide globes and Flos table lamp create a warm glow. ‘I was instantly enchanted by this haven of peace,’ says Manivet. ‘I love light and interiors that venerate women, so this collaboration has given a new dimension to my work and I wanted the guest to feel like a countess during her stay.’
