Fab 40: Wooden Roller Coaster, Vancouver
The Carl Phare designed wooden roller coaster at Vancouver’s Playland Amusement Park was built in 1958 with locally harvested softwood. The coaster offers a retro-ride experience, with minimal restraints – only a lapbar – and a wide open train front. Twisting and turning at 75 km an hour it brings a sense of heritage to a cheap thrill.
