London Design Festival 2016 preview
As summer draws to a close, London braces itself for a rush of activity, biggest – and most exciting – of all: its annual creative showcase. This year's festivities stretch across the capital, from the London Design Festival hub at the V&A, to the newly baptised London Design Fair in the east, alongside veterans like Clerkenwell and Brompton, by way of new district Brixton, and a few other surprises along the way. (Not to mention the inaugural London Design Bienniale, which will take place simultaneously, too!) To make navigating London's design wonders infinitely more enjoyable we've put together an edit of the top 20 exhibitions, events and installations, just for you…

Brompton Design District is celebrating its tenth birthday in style this year with bespoke designer-made cocktails. Inspired by the controversial 'Brompton cocktail' (a heady mix of alcoholic spirits, morphine and cocaine), a star-studded list of designers – including Max Lamb, Peter Marigold, Tomás Alonso and Faye Toogood – have been invited to realise conceptual or real beverages. From tipples for foragers to placebo drinks for the mind, the creative mix will be presented in an installation by food designers Arabeschi di Latte, and will be accompanied by a recipe book.
17–25 September; The Garage, 1 North Terrace, London, SW3 2BA; www.bromptondesigndistrict.com
