London Design Festival 2016 preview
As summer draws to a close, London braces itself for a rush of activity, biggest – and most exciting – of all: its annual creative showcase. This year’s festivities stretch across the capital, from the London Design Festival hub at the V&A, to the newly baptised London Design Fair in the east, alongside veterans like Clerkenwell and Brompton, by way of new district Brixton, and a few other surprises along the way. (Not to mention the inaugural London Design Bienniale, which will take place simultaneously, too!) To make navigating London’s design wonders infinitely more enjoyable we’ve put together an edit of the top 20 exhibitions, events and installations, just for you…
Writers: Rosa Bertoli, Sujata Burman, Jessica Klingelfuss, Sam Rogers
Following its debut last year, the Bankside Design District is taking a typographic turn for its second edition with plenty of exhibitions, interactive installations and workshops for type lovers to explore between Borough Market and Oxo Tower Wharf. Delve into the personality of fonts through a wine tasting, or take in an installation of ’living’ letters by florists All for Love. Elsewhere, graphic artist Camille Walala transforms a pedestrian crossing in her bold, signature style, while Contemporary Applied Arts hosts a ceramics exhibit.
