Mood board: Arty and eastern-tinged, Roland Mouret’s winter collection came wrapped up in ethnic collages made from velvet, sheer tulle and lace cut to looks like shards of Moroccan glass.

Best in show: Though he experimented liberally this season with new patchworks, his strongest work was also his simplest. A bold cobalt blue dress with a tear drop chest opened lined in black piping offered a shot of clear strength as did the long asymmetric white skirt piped in multi-coloured seaming that were paired with jogging jackets.

Finishing touches: Mouret’s boot this season was zipped up the back but dissected into two pieces on its front: a sexy strappy sandal over the vamp and a shin guard made from suede that made the models appear to be wearing leggings with their stilettos.
