Fashion’s leading lights
This month, we’re all about the talent. And as old ground isn’t something we’re that keen on covering – this talent is as fresh as it comes, straight out of college in most cases, and it’s all in aid of our annual graduate directory issue.
As a twist on the fledgling theme, we asked ten of the world’s leading fashion figures - ranging from Donatella Versace and Christopher Bailey, through to Gucci’s Frida Giannini and Paul Smith – to cherry pick ten key names from the up-and-coming fashion generation for a special shoot featured in this month’s graduate directory issue.
Despite a few of the selectees seeming a little less than novice (Mark Fast and Mary Katrantzou are well-established fashion names these days) this merry band of creative characters consists of talent only on the scene for the past few years at most.
With exuberant millinery from Piers Atkinson, padded leather accessories by Harris Elliott and architectonic menswear from James Long, the selection provides an insightful cross section of today’s most innovative studios.
Look no further than the January issue (W*130) for our Show Time shoot, featuring work from each of the selected designers - but if you’re keen to probe a little deeper, see below for our interviews with each of the designers.
