Despite an already-packed New York Design Week social calendar to compete with, the Big Apple edition of our SodaStream party series was truly bursting at the seams last Saturday night. Held on the rooftop bar of Hôtel Americano, the design crowd’s accommodation of choice, our sexy shindig drew 500 design-savvy names, and then some. For most of the evening, a queue of people (guests and gatecrashers included) snaked down the block, though attendees upstairs were none the wiser, thanks to an expertly controlled door.

On the roof, SodaStream’s bubbly cocktails, which included the refreshing citrus concoction Cucumber Heat, and the more playful Campari-based Summer Girl, flowed fast as guests took in the sights (including the Empire State Building) and sounds (provided by the New York-based Brazilian DJ, Elle Dee) along with quesadillas, mini hamburgers and more. Amongst those in attendance were Yves Behar, Tom Dixon, Jaime Hayon, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence, Dror Benshetrit and Gaye Çevikel, who joined the rest of the glamorous crowd in lounging on the pool terrace by the Béhar-designed bar units.

As things veered into the early hours of Sunday morning, and the drinks disappeared into the ether, only one thing – for better or for worse – remained untouched: that cosy rooftop pool.
