Discover Bohinc Studio’s delicious new collection at London Design Festival
‘Afternoon Tea’, comprising chairs, a sofa and tables in playful hues, is Bohinc Studio’s largest collection to date
Bohinc Studio has unveiled its new collection, ‘Afternoon Tea’, at London Design Festival. The nine new pieces designed by Lara Bohinc comprise dining chairs, armchairs, a sofa and tables in scrumptious sorbet shades.
‘I created the “Afternoon Tea” collection during the early part of the pandemic, which was at times so lonely and uncertain,’ says Bohinc of the playful new collection. ‘I missed the company of family and friends, the simple joy of passing time together. So I wanted to create pieces with a sculptural aesthetic to fill this void; some are creature-like shapes that emanate friendly and tactile qualities – they’re even huggable. And I wanted other pieces to look delicious, applying dramatically curvaceous patisserie forms to make them seem good enough to eat.’
This appetising aesthetic is reflected in the sensual forms of the pieces, which cast curves in soft, textured upholstery, making a tactile foil for the smooth surfaces of tables in stained wood or gleaming marble. ‘Most pieces feature spheres, rounded shapes or voluptuous surfaces,’ adds Bohinc.

The pieces inspire the same feeling of sweet indulgence that an afternoon tea provides. Crafted in pretty pastels and bold sherbet shades, they cradle the wearer in their sensuous forms for an indulgent furniture treat.
For Bohinc, it was essential the pieces would have a tactile and comfortable nature. ‘I used fabric to create the feeling of comfort and embrace. I love to evolve fresh circular forms and this collection continues that geometric aesthetic, but this collection is a more feminine expression, one that moves away from angular metalwork.’
For London Design Festival, the pieces will be presented in a comfortable residential setting in a London townhouse, showcased alongside lighting from 2021’s collaboration with Roll & Hill and carpets and wall hangings for Kasthall.
