Patternity brings its online universe to life with five-day festival

Book launches tend to be tame and reserved affairs. But not for pattern pioneers Anna Murray and Grace Winteringham of cult blog Patternity, who have opted to herald the arrival of their first-ever book with a five-day Festival of Pattern, kicking off today ahead of the London Design Festival.
Until next Tuesday, visitors to Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch can immerse themselves wholly in the Patternity universe, exploring all things pattern in the spheres of fashion, art and design, science, spirituality, wellbeing and more.
A retrospective of Patternity’s studio collaborations, products and special projects to date are on show and available to buy at the festival, in addition to limited edition prints and special editions of the freshly launched book, Patternity: A New Way of Seeing, published by Conran Octopus. It’s a chance to see the pair’s project for Wallpaper* Handmade, along with other fascinating pieces and photographs plucked from the new tome.
The cross-disciplinary festival also features an engaging programme of ‘new and reimagined experiences, designed to inspire and connect’ members of the so-called Patternitribe. The Patternity events room will host hands-on pattern workshops, morning yoga and meditation, roundtable discussions.
And if you want to meet the talented co-founders themselves – and get answers to all the burning questions you’ve ever had about pattern – we recommend a visit to the space on Monday evening, where Murray and Winteringham will be on hand to trace their fantastic five years. Here’s to another five more!
