Charming Baker show at New York Studio Gallery

British artist Charming Baker will show his new collection, 'Stupid Has a New Hero' in a solo exhibiiton at the New York Studio Gallery. The show features 16 new paintings and five limited edition prints of the artist's oil paintings on wood, linen and paper.
The current collection is Baker's attempt to preserve a looming sense of unease in the familiar, a fabricated mesh of beauty and brutality.
'The effect I'm aiming for,' Baker explains of his most recent work, 'is that slightly unnerving feeling you get when you have your arse patted in public, but you're not exactly sure who's patting it.'
The Central Saint Martins graduate, who boasts sell out shows in London and sales to Damien Hirst, has been dubbed in prestigious art circles as the cross between Banksy and David Hockney, and was recently commissioned by Amnesty International to produce work for the Blank Canvas Project alongside Tracey Emin.
New York Studio Gallery (NYSG) is a Lower East Side-based collaborative workspace and gallery facilitating the work of and public interaction with American and international artists in residency.
