Sound and vision: Wallpaper's new audiophile digs, created in collaboration with Sonos

How do you make the perfect living space? A good eye is a starting point, but it helps to have an excellent architect on board to form the structure, craft the contours and ensure that real life flows easily from one room to another. Colour, light and material come together to create a canvas upon which life can be lived. Once the essentials are in place, you can introduce another essential: music.

Teaming up with audio specialist Sonos, Wallpaper* Composed, our bespoke interior design service, enlisted high note-hitting designers Philippe Nigro and Hunting & Narud to create a perfectly pitched listening environment in a Shoreditch apartment. Watch the action unfold in this short film.

Living room & kitchen, by Philippe Nigro
Paris-based designer Philippe Nigro turned his talents to creating a kitchen/living room. Known for his elegant furniture collection for Hermès, Nigro has an eclectic approach, with a portfolio that encompasses a variety of materials and forms. 'The idea was to mix very different pieces,' explains Nigro, 'because what gives an interior soul is the mix.' The sofas, with their foam and fabric structure, are intended as places to relax and soak up sound, as well as to help the music diffuse around the room.

Amy Hunting and Oscar Narud shaped the ultimate bedroom and study, turning the space created by architects Patrick Theis and Soraya Khan into the definition of flexible living with the Sonos wireless hi-fi system at its heart. Hunting & Narud have won plaudits for their elegant 'Copper Mirror Series', seen here, a fusion of refined raw materials that is both functional and sculptural. Like Nigro, Hunting & Narud chose to install Sonos's latest device, the 'Play: 1', an ultra-compact cylinder that delivers crisp, lifelike audio from a multitude of sources - computer, phone, tablet or even the near-infinite playlists of Spotify and the world of internet radio. Sound, form, space and light come together to shape the ultimate environment.
