Venice Architecture Biennale 2018 preview
The 16th international architecture exhibition of the Venice Biennale, running from 26 May to 25 November, is curated by architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara who selected the theme ‘Freespace’ for the event. As well as the main exhibition located at the Giardini and the Arsenale including 71 participants, this year there are the 63 national pavilions – as well as a host of other architectural and cultural events happening across Venice. The Salon Suisse, a series of lectures, talks and culutral events inspired by the biennale’s theme, wil take place during the festival’s opening days, organised by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. Directed by architectural historian Marcel Bächtiger, cultural theorist Tim Kammasch and architect Stanislas Zimmermann, the program will explore architecture and its multidisciplinary connections, as well as its cultural and social relevance today.
