The Serenity Suite at Hotel Monaco — Chicago, USA

Following a series of updates over the past couple of years, Chicago’s Hotel Monaco has now called on designer Alison Victoria to refresh one if its largest suites.
With a time limit of only 28 days, Victoria’s aim was to render the project less a hotel room, but more a personal apartment. Using materials such as reclaimed wood, white marble and grey accessories, the neutral palette delivers a minimalist foundation, with flashy accent pieces from textured gold wall paint - custom-made by local artist Stephanie Gabel with Roux Design - to a wood and brass mini bar cabinet by Hammer Design, adding modern glamour to ever corner.
The showpiece however, has to be the bathroom, which is furnished with gold plumbing fixtures and whimsical marble walls, inlaid with clever artwork by illustrator Lisa Boumstein-Smalley.
