Writers: Rosa Bertoli, Sujata Burman, Sam Rogers
Writer and curator Clare Farrow has gathered the childhood memories of six architects and designers, exploring their past influences to better understand their work. Featuring Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma, Daniel Libeskind, Nieto Sobejano, Denise Scott Brown and Philip Treacy, the exhibition forms a fantastic bridge between the creative’s production and where their aesthetics came from. Each memory is illustrated through cabinets of curiosities displaying photographs, text, objects, materials, scent, film, music and sketches, ranging from bird feathers inspiring Treacy’s hats to images of Daniel Libeskind’s childhood in post-war Poland.
19, 21-26 September; Roca London Gallery, Station Court, Townmead Road, London, SW6 2PY; www.childhoodrecollections.roca-exhibitions.co.uk
