Punk-inspired slogans and pastel hues hit the spot at Pierpaolo Piccioli's first solo menswear show

Mood board: For his first solo outing for Valentino menswear Pierpaolo Piccioli considered the concept of the modern gentleman, a charming character who chooses to blend heritage diamond-print knitwear and slim bowties, with two-tone sneakers and baseball caps, with anarchic style captioning.
Team work: Piccioli collaborated with the British artist Jamie Reid, the creator of the Sex Pistols’ ransom-note style slogans, to finish baseball caps, sweaters and duffle coats with cut-and-paste style instarsia typography.
Best in show: Delicate pastel shades worked to offset the harder punk-style slogans, encapsulated in soft lilac wool sweaters and capes, and boxy jackets in patent nude.
