Salvatore Ferragamo A/W 2017
Mood board: Guillaume Meilland's debut show as menswear design director whispered in subtle tones rather than shouting and shaking the house down. Still, there were of course lovely clothes in Florentine-crafted leathers and suedes, not to mention more than 50 shades of grey.
Best in show: Great knitwear flooded the runway including charming varsity sweaters and thick knits worn with high volume pants. But the winner of the show was a fantastic, ultra sharp white wool frock coat featuring a nubbly navy blue shearling interior.
Finishing touches: Ferragamo is of course a leather goods powerhouse so the accessories are always front and center. This season they came cleanly cut and modernly inclined. Studs trimmed the sturdy soles of leather lace up or slip on shoes and boots, pyramid shaped oversized nap sacks were cut in suede or buttery gun-metal calfskin while chunky knit gloves topped off nearly every look.
