Jonathan Saunders A/W 2014

Poised on and around gritty amplifiers, Jonathan Saunders' cast of prim, polished boys took a racy turn for A/W 2014. The Scottish designer applied his signature colour chemistry across an eclectic blend of tailoring and loungewear separates in an oily palette, ranging from shades of olive to scarlet, through cyan, violet, ivory and grass green. Details like grosgrain taping, bands of tapestry florals and shots of glitter adorned his slim, square silhouette in a stripe story that clashed with diamond 'harlequin' motifs, either scaled down into sleek suiting or blown up on fine knitwear - courtesy of Woolmark's Australian Merino wool. Saunder's keen sense of textural play gave a new relevance to the myriad retro shapes in an optimistic and luxurious update of his youthful urban wardrobe.
