Fizzical force: Feudi di San Gregorio’s new Dubl bubble
Since its launch in Irpinia, southern Italy, in 1986, the Feudi di San Gregorio winery has gained a reputation not just for oenological excellence but also for sound design judgment.
Over the years, the estate has collaborated with Italian designer Massimo Vignelli on labels and interiors and Japanese architect Hiraku Mori on its contemporary winery, a striking structure built in 2004. Most recently, Feudi launched Dubl, a series of sparkling wines – made with local grapes but using the Champenoise method – the first of their kind in the area. Italian designer Fabio Novembre was enlisted to create the identity for the next chapter in this spumante adventure, a new wine called Dubl Esse.
Unveiled this month, the design is inspired by the three crowns worn by Feudi’s namesake, Saint Gregory, which Novembre recreated as a three-band motif for the Dubl Esse bottles, coolers and boxes.
