Alexander McQueen, Spring/Summer 08 (scroll down to read the review)
Alexander McQueen
A giant sculpture/structure of Pegasus wings provided the backdrop for the Alexander McQueen show. LCD lighting spread through its body and wings like a virus and then pulsated like a bird flapping its wings in flight.
The show itself was pure Isabella territory as McQueen put it, inspired by the extreme glamour of Isabella Blow who died earlier this year, even her favourite scent Fracas filled the air and bottles of it were left on the seats.
McQueen called upon milliner Philip Treacy to finish off his outfits with breathtaking hats and headpieces (if you can call them just that) and as if to acknowledge her importance in both their lives, they both came out for the finale.
Best of all was the tailoring that opened the show, sharp and shapely with exaggerated padding on the hips and shoulders exhibiting the formidable designers skill in this area.
