Ralph Lauren, Autumn/Winter '08 (scroll down to read the review)
Ralph Lauren
After celebrating 40 years in the business last season, Ralph Lauren got straight back to his roots for autumn. This translated as Navajo blanket-inspired, shawl-collared jackets, lumberjack check cashmere shirts, topping a lace and wool tiered skirt, mixing chic with basics in classic Lauren style. The star turns were the jackets and they ranged from fishing-inspired, slim, suede numbers with multi pockets to cashmere, swing-out style in juicy shades of purple and tangerine, all featuring exaggerated necklines. For evening, molten silk velvet in garnet, orange and hunting green made up fluid draped bias-cut gowns that look as comfortable to wear as a T-shirt. Well after all, 'The Big Easy' is Lauren's modus operandi.
