Donna Karan, Autumn/Winter '08 (scroll down to read the review)
Donna Karan
She's in a Venice, Budapest, Paris, New York frame of mind - and that means a concentration on quiet opulence, slip off the shoulder cuts and offside colours like molten orange, golden green and smoky olive. There were peignoir gowns in slippery silk, wrapped with ribbon belts and devoré velvet dressing gown styles, which all looked boudoir seductive. Frayed edges on chiffon gave a 'poor little rich girl' feel to bias-cut dresses, which were dripped with crystal-strewn laces and worn under cosy, cashmere cardigan coats - a big trend for fall. On the jacket front, the star turn was an antique, grey leather, outsize boyfriends flying jacket and for show-offs, the metallic tweeds had some punch.
