Fendi
Fendis menswear has been on track for a few seasons now. For Tuesdays show, Silvia Venturini Fendi continued to develop ideas from last season by combining formalwear and sportswear. Familiar territory yes, but a grey suit jacket with hidden elastic storm cuff showed clever restraint, as did raglan-sleeved shirts that resembled baseball tops.
Sheer layering has been something of a theme in Milan and techno-voile knits worn over shirts and ties worked really well, especially when tone on tone. Pants were either slim or overtly baggy bouffant slacks - it's been an either/or week, with Jil Sander and Versace being the other champions of choice.
It was all very pure and clean, and colour was super subtle and sometimes barely there, with names like steam, chlorine, ice and aerosol. This being Fendi, the house has had to make use of its Roman artisans: embroidered leather tops and waistcoats contaminated what was otherwise a super-minimal and ultra-modern collection.
