Jil Sander
Though there was alot to love in this Jil Sander collection by Raf Simons, by far the best part came at the very beginning when the audience was treated to a sartorial rif on speed skating uniforms. Fine, densely knit sweaters featured built-in racer hoods and original takes on nordic winter graphics that thankfully did not include a single cliched snowflake. Also inventively sporty were the stretch pants that had a whiff of Emilio Pucci's original ski costumes in the 1940s. But with their elastic stirrups that laced through the voided wedged heel of the models' feet, the pants were all Raf's own.
