Lee Broom designs the new Christian Louboutin boutique in Harrods, London
Designer Lee Broom has created a drama-filled new store concept for Christian Louboutin. Following in the footsteps of other Christian Louboutin boutiques around the world that are designed to reflect the city in which they are located, Broom's creation pays theatrical homage to the city of London.
Housed within Harrods' eveningwear department, the light-filled space, which includes an archive of Christian Louboutin shoes alongside the designer's latest collections, is framed by a fanned archway entrance inspired by the glass façade of Covent Garden's Royal Opera House.
Other nods to the city can be found in the tiled walls, themselves reminiscent of that of the London Underground, and white street lamps which illuminate the footwear on display. Even Big Ben makes his presence known in the arched store window, which has been etched to resemble a giant glass clock face.
Broom's fashion credentials make him perfectly placed to design the shoe maestro's largest store in the world to date - he studied fashion design at Central St Martins, also doing a stint at Vivienne Westwood, before he settled on a career in product and interiors design.
Injecting Louboutin's DNA into the space with classic red carpets and molded stucco ceilings, the designer's stage set-like space is peppered with signature pieces from his own collections, such as his Crystal Bulbs, and the Salon range, which the designer has reworked in a new colour palette of purples, greys and pinks.
