Philipp Plein S/S 2015
It would not be a Philipp Plein show without a suitably jaw-dropping set scenario - to wit his S/S 2015 men's presentation included a pool large enough to ride jet skis in. This season Plein set adrift with an underwater wonderland spectacle, created with three-dimensional projections that plunged us into a digital oceanic abyss with a live orchestra keeping the beat. Coral formations inspired pavé studded leather biker jackets and their matching sandal sidekicks that were presented in a melange of tropical fish hues. Nautical references wrapped his Riviera-striped Fifties sundresses that had clearly just stepped off a super yacht, although we're not quite sure about his Toucan bird print's place on the ocean floor. Deep within Plein's pelagic zone, black lace and liquefied, long-sleeved cocktail sheaths were much more at home, shimmering with the weight of their crystal rock embellishments. Swimmingly dramatic, this was prime time Plein theatre - right down to the Styrofoam-filled plunge pool that later bobbed with guests.
