‘Free market’ examines the declining rural market square in Irish towns and looks to rediscover its potential as a public place of social, political and cultural exchange. Curated by a team of six young Irish architects and designers, the exhibition shows architectural models and drawings describing both the historic and contemporary conditions of Irish market towns. The space will perform as a real market square, offering an engaging place to meet and channeling textures, colours and sounds transported from the original context – and featuring its own Free Market Radio and newspaper entitled Free Market News.
