The Hoxton DTLA — Los Angeles, USA

The Hoxton brand continues its global expansion with its ninth property – the fourth in the US – opening in a handsome 1920s Beaux Arts pile, once the headquarters to the LA Railway Authority, nestled among the city’s historic theatres and movie palaces on Broadway.
Previously also home to a garment manufacturer and a candy shop, the ten-floor property now comprises 174 rooms, a series of lively communal spaces and two drinking and dining spots, both headed up by the team behind New York's neighbourhood restaurant, Sunday in Brooklyn.
On the ground floor, Sibling Rival is a classic diner, offering innovative takes on American favourites such as disco tots - crispy potatoes served with hot sauce, lemon crème fraîche, bacon, green mole, radish and topped with a fried egg – while the rooftop-based Pilot serves up Mediterranean-inspired fare like fresh seafood cooked on a live fire, against Broadway views.
Ennismore Design Studio takes cues from the hotel’s 1920s Beaux Arts home, particularly in the guestrooms, with classic French finishes like the wall panelling, chevron floors and burl timber. Meanwhile, Latino urbanism is revealed through details like the rugs, tiles and accessories. Furniture shapes reference Bauhaus styles and retro telephones, Marshall radios, and artisan ceramics from East London add a homey touch.
Coming soon is a basement bar, but in the meantime, there really is no shortage of activities, from workout classes to dog grooming, live portrait painting, art exhibits and local volunteering opportunities.
