Not exactly filled with strong dining options, the area around Amsterdam’s Central Station has welcomed Wyers Bar & Restaurant with open arms. From menu to décor, the restaurant and bar of the city’s new DeWitt hotel is fun and familiar. Freshly relocated New York chef Sam DeMarco brings his signature American comfort fare to a meat-heavy menu including wagyu sliders, wood-fire grilled steaks and fish, along with local specialties such as goose rillettes and raw beef ossenworst.

Local designers Studio Modijefsky tastefully channel the archetypal hotel brasserie through a muted palette of olive greens and golden browns, enriched by finishes of brass, leather, timber and marble. From high stools at the cocktail bar to banquettes and circular tables in the dining room, the 140 seat space adeptly caters to all scenarios and group sizes. Casting a captivating gaze over proceedings are a striking series of portraits commissioned especially for the project by Dutch photographer Maarten Schröder. In an area of ferocious foot traffic and fast food joints, Wyers is a welcome escape, day or night.
