Fab 40: Hotel Skeppsholmen, Stockholm
Hotel Skeppsholmen is the much-anticipated latest addition to the surge of new hotels to open in Stockholm. Situated on perhaps the most picturesque and quiet of the Stockholm isles, this little gem of a hotel sits in a lush green park overlooking the Stockholm waters.
A total of 81 rooms and suites and a bar and restaurant, designed by interior architects Claesson Koivisto Rune in collaboration with Erséus Architects, are housed in two historical barracks that date back to 1699. With a peaceful, serene design scheme inspired by ‘fog’, this hotel is an oasis set in the heart of a cultural area within walking distance to the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Architecture.
Guests will be looked after by Swedish hospitality veteran Joachim Olausson who left Berns to spearhead this project for the Nobis group, who also own Hotel J & Stallmästaregården. Although beautiful all year round, from May to September Skeppsholmen is particularly spectacular.
