Ellis Gourmet Burger — Antwerp, Belgium
Belgium’s Ellis Gourmet Burger is quickly establishing itself as a place where patrons can expect more than sloppy fast food. Following on from two successful branches in Brussels and the Flanders seaside resort of Knokke, the third outpost can be found along the old docks in Antwerp in the up-an-coming area of Het Eilandje. On the menu is a mix of classic gourmet burgers, healthy veggie burgers and signature and tribute burgers, such as a delicate cheeseburger created in collaboration with Van Tricht and sons, the world-renowned Belgian cheesemonger. All are served with high-quality side dishes and a fine drinks menu offering a proper selection of Belgian beers. The décor is urban eclectic and the red-brick walls are hung with prints referencing Antwerp’s maritime past and the famous Red Star Line. For summer days, there's a sunny terrace with views over the docks and the striking new MAS museum.
