Almost at the end of the scenic Great Ocean Road is the cute fishing village of Port Fairy. Once a whaling station, it has a rich history, with more than 50 buildings in the town protected by the National Trust of Australia. One of these is a bluestone residence built in 1875. Architecture firm Multiplicity has added a contemporary addition to the house and transformed it into a luxurious retreat with four completely individual suites. Number 2 has private use of the wide upstairs verandah and a fireplace, while Number 4 boasts a big-screen projector and a linear bathroom partly open to the sleeping quarters. All four feature bespoke art and contemporary finishes.
