Saint Laurent and Nanoblock’s fantastic figurines
The Parisian brand launches a series of miniature Nanoblock creations, from electric star guitars to French bulldogs
Baccarat crystal glasses, Bang & Olufsen speakers, heart-shaped JL Coquet coffee sets, Everlast boxing gloves: there's an eclectic range of collaborative lifestyle pieces available to buy at Saint Laurent's concept-focused Rive Droite boutique in Paris. ‘We already have younger customers, and the idea is to make products that are attractive for them. Saint Laurent was a very youthful brand in the 1960s and 1970s. It shouldn’t become something sacred and untouchable,' creative director Anthony Vaccarello told Wallpaper* of the intention behind the space, when it opened in spring 2019.
Now, the label has extended its collaborative efforts with a partnership with Japanese construction toy specialist Nanoblock, whose building sets span city skylines, Pokémon and Star Wars figurines.
Saint Laurent and Nanoblock's miniature micro-block forms encompass buildable electric star guitars, verdant palm trees and a French bulldog. The former two figurines nod to the rebellious rock-and-roll DNA of the house, and its associations with palm tree-lined locations like Los Angeles and Morocco. The building sets will provide distraction when whiling away the hours during lockdown
