It's hard to predict how our style will evolve when lockdown finally ends. Will we riff on the Roaring Twenties and indulge in extravagance or will we maintain a soft spot for the loungewear of our indoor, mid-pandemic existence? One thing is certain, whether you err towards the lavish or the elegant, a timeless handbag will hone any look.
Despite our reduced need to carry accessories, 2020 saw an uptick in handbag sales from a number of retailers, including Net-a-Porter and The RealReal, with shoppers investing in trend-subverting timeless brands, and styles that will have lasting impact. One luxury label that continues to transcend ‘It' pieces, with long-lasting silhouettes and sumptuous fabrications, is Loro Piana.
Now the brand, famed for its impeccably soft baby cashmere and vicuña, and recently launched luxurious workout and meditation gear, has also unveiled a new silhouette in its leather goods line-up. Enter the ‘Sesia’ handbag, an organically structured silhouette, referencing modernist simplicity and the curves of nature, constructed in a range of tactile fabrications and paint-box and pastel shades, from forest green to biscuit, sky blue to buttercup yellow.
In an uplifiting nod to nature, Loro Piana's ‘Sesia’ style is named after the Italian valley that the company inhabits and the meandering river which crosses it. Design details are subtle: a hallmark of the brand's heritage, its crest features as an enamel button, in the same hue as the bag’s exterior.

As well as coming in a range of tones and textures, the ‘Sesia’ is also realised in various sizes and shapes, from roomier double-handled bags to hands-free crossbody styles, which have an easy yet elegant élan. Whichever option you favour, the ‘Sesia’ will ensure sleek and transcendent style – sure-fire necessities for dressing in our new world.
