Ferragamo continued its roll of cool, contemporary clothes for spring. There was nothing tricksy or forced in this fine collection, just plenty of superbly crafted, wearable pieces. Given Ferragamo's footwear heritage, creative director Massimiliano Giornetti has no qualms about throwing leather and exotic skins into a spring collection. He did so beautifully and abundantly in this show with paper-thin leather skirt suiting and python circle skirts or python pocketed silk crepe jumpsuits. Our favourite looks, however, were those crafted from a sturdy cotton that made cape constructed trench coats and safari jackets fall with a regal, even papal, flair. Also noteworthy was the new sandwich layer platforms, inspired by the signature rainbow heeled style from Ferragamo's rich archives that were re-proposed in all black with a Japanese-style thong upper.
