Mood board: Separation was the theme that Rei Kawakubo mined into her hauntingly beautiful winter collection. Using strips of black leather, lace, pure white cotton sheets or rich gold brocade, the Japanese designer wrapped her models into wearable cages protecting women from the world outside and slipped their feet into no-nonsense shoes to ensure they could walk across it.
Best in show: As with all Comme shows, the looks got progressively more intricate and increasingly impactful in their volumes, culminating with a giant wearable igloo-like structure crafted from black strips of lace and bows that held the model like a prisoner.
Finishing touches: The hair was, as usual, spectacular. This season Kawakubo ordered a collection of hats that covered both heads and faces like gauzy, wet black cobwebs.
