Paul Smith A/W 2014
A path of Kilim rugs circled the light-filled rotunda of the Bourse du Commerce for Paul Smith's show, in a further clue to winter's story after the woolly, woven invite he sent. It turns out Paul had dedicated the clothes to Jim Morrison, the musician and the man, for a bohemian outing that married loungy separates with carpet textiles and motifs of musical notes or exotic animalia. In a warm palette of terracotta red and dusty pink velvet, tan leather and Prussian blue wool, knitwear and tabard-like sheepskin hoodies were paired with papery leather jeans or a full, cuffed trouser, as Smith's laidback look borrowed from the wardrobe of the Beat Poets' most zealous disciple.
