London Design Festival retail round-up: the new stores to open their doors this month

Klaus Haapaniemi
Pop-up shops and temporary exhibitions may pepper the capital in September, but this year's London Design Festival is also leaving a legacy of more permanent additions to the city's design map. Among the brand new stores flipping over their signs to 'Open' for the first time this month is that of Klaus Haapaniemi. The Finnish designer and artist (of Iittala fame) has opened his first ever boutique in Shoreditch to sell and display his signature textile collection along with ceramics and limited edition design pieces.

Another curiosity shop for Shoreditch, Lee Broom is opening the doors to Electra House, his first dedicated retail space. To mark the occasion the designer is also launching a number of new pieces: Carousel, a light fitting; a new upholstery collection called Quilt; and Fulcrum, a collection of glass candlesticks. The space will interconnect with Broom's design studio.
