Team spirit: Miami’s SLS Hotel & Residences Brickell prepares to open its doors

The Related Group, designer Philippe Starck and lifestyle hospitality firm SBE have joined forces on a striking new project that is about to throw open its doors at the heart of Miami’s Brickell neighbourhood. This is not only the team’s first collaboration, but also SBE’s second SLS Miami hotel; one that will comprise a rich selection of private residences, lending it the scheme its name – SLS Hotel & Residences.
The complex is designed by Arquitectonica and consists of a 55-storey tower and podium, within which sits 124 Starck-designed hotel rooms and 450 SLS-branded residential units. The modern architecture is infused with a healthy dose of contemporary art, such as a mural by Markus Linnenbrink and a striking lobby sculpture by Bernardí Roig.
‘SLS Brickell epitomises what we stand for; an uncompromising, yet modern approach to luxury, infused with playfulness, spirit, creativity and world-class cuisine and design’, says SBE CEO and founder Sam Nazarian.
Culinary treats are matched with 24-hour amenities for residents, such as concierge services, valet parking, in-room dining, babysitting services and a BMW 7 eries house car. A fitness centre and spa within the property will complete the wellness facilities. The hotel, on the other hand, will offer an urban oasis for guests – providing access to pools and al fresco dining options at the pool deck – and mesmerising Starck interiors.
‘SLS Hotel & Residences Brickell is envisioned as a sophisticated and contemporary urban paradise, and serves a pivotal role in reshaping Miami's financial district with tremendous culture and hospitality,’ said The Related Group’s founder Jorge Pérez. ‘I’m extremely pleased with our debut SLS branded residences and excited for our partnership with SBE to grow with forthcoming ventures, including SLS LUX Puerto Madero in my hometown of Buenos Aires.’
The scheme will be unveiled to the public for the first time on 3 October, but this, as Perez suggests, does not mark the end of the road for this talented team. More joint ventures are on the cards, with a sister property to SLS Hotel & Residences – called SLS LUX Brickell – set to be the next stop in its expanding portfolio.
