La Granja — Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza may, especially for the younger more energetic set, still resonate with a louche vibe and the prospect of dusk to dawn raves. Which is all the more reason to be taken aback by the discovery of La Granja, a perfect gem of a hideaway that sits on 10ha of farmland.
Here in the hamlet of Buscastell, a bare 15-minute drive from town, sybaritic pleasures give way to a rustic tranquility featuring orchards of prickly pears, pine groves, and ficus, figs and lemon trees, and a bristling resident pig, and layered views of ocean and green
Designer Armin Fischer of Dreimeta has converted a 200-year old farmhouse into a warm nine-room hideout, with a standalone two-bedroom guesthouse. The aged patina of the interiors with their dark timber beamed ceilings and arched walls have been lovingly preserved and accentuated by way of hammered iron doorknobs, weaved baskets doubling as lanterns, oiled ash, and generous swathes of stone, rough linen and slate.
Which is not to say that guests rough it. Far from it. In the kitchen, chef José Catrimán plunders the farm’s haul of apples, nectarines, figs and almonds, and locally sourced ingredients to create a slow food menu of impeccable freshness and comforting hominess. And just to remind you of where you are, the yoga and meditation workshops are supplemented by a mescal hour and daily DJ-sets by the outdoor pool.
