Think 60’s - think Mods & Rockers, moon landings, flower power and, of course, Carnaby Street. Where better then, for American super-brand Gap to celebrate their past 40 years in the business, than in London’s happening center with a one-off pop-up store, dedicated entirely to their inimitable influence.
Decked out in a range of rainbow colours and featuring limited edition pieces, with boots from Pierre Hardy and accessories from Albertus Swanepoel, the store is open for a fittng 19 days and 69 hours from September 12th onwards.
Along with the additional bespoke pieces, renowned fashion illustrator and much-loved blogger Garance Doré has produced a one-off show of her scratchy, linear work, which is set to hang in-store for the duration of Gap’s celebratory tenure.
The collaboration on everyone’s lips however is Gap’s newly formed relationship with Pharrell Williams, who has produced a capsule collection of everyman basics for the store.
Finding focus on Gap’s ubiquitous white-tee, Williams has come up with a collection of five key wardrobe components, including bright-white trainers, a hold-all, a hoody and of course, a pristine white tee-shirt. What’s more, the entire capsule collection has been produced in bionic yarn – made entirely from recycled plastic bottles.
