For the ideal travelling companion to our best-selling Wallpaper* City Guides head for cult bookmaker Moleskine’s collection of City Notebooks. Filled only with maps of the city, the rest of the pages of the black leather notebooks are left blank for their owners to fill with their personal collection of memories from their travels.
Inside, pages are arranged in tabbed categories like ‘stories’, ‘encounters’ and ‘adventures’, perfect for recording those unforgettable city escapades. Other thoughtful features include removable pages for leaving messages and transparent sticky sheets for making notes on maps.
To celebrate the launch of the U.S. collection of the City Notebooks (stateside destinations include New York, San Francisco and Boston,) Moleskine gave seventy notebooks to a special selection of architects, artists, designers, illustrators and writers to deface as they see fit. Encouraged to work in the medium they’re most accustomed to (writers write, illustrators draw), the results have been curated in an exhibition called ‘Detour’ that is on private view this Sunday in conjunction with ICFF. Both intimate and inspiring, we’re allowed a glimpse into the creative minds of Spike Jonze, Dave Eggers, Cynthia Rowley and Steve Guarnaccia, amongst many others.
The project supports Lettera 27, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the rights of literacy and education in the world and opens to the public on June 1st.
