Richard Rogers exhibition, Paris

The grand retrospective exhibition of Richard Roger’s work, which opened yesterday at Paris' Pompidou Centre, will undoubtedly be the perfect ending to a great year for the British architect. Having been awarded the Pritzker Prize only a few months ago, and with many high-profile projects underway, it seems that 2007 is a landmark year in the practice’s history.

The much-awaited show includes 40 years' worth of practical and theoretical work by the architect, starting from his early days working with Norman and Wendy Foster and Su Rogers as Team 4, via seminal works by the Richard Rogers Partnership like the Lloyd's building, the National Assembly for Wales and of course the Pompidou itself, through to today's ongoing projects with Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners.

The detailed overview includes, apart from drawings and photographs of each project, a filmed interview with the man himself, and a BBC documentary about his work. But the more playful visitor's favourite highlights would definitely include the rest area, where all are invited to make their own architectural experiments in Lego, to create their own mini-Leadenhall Buildings and more...

And if 2007 proved to be a year of great achievements for Richard Rogers and his associates, then 2008 has even more to come: Heathrow's Terminal 5 is nearing completion, and the retrospective’s next stop is London's Design Museum in spring 2008.
