Annelise Michelson pops up in Paris with a little help from her designer friends
The Parisian jewellery designer Annelise Michelson’s pop-up boutique in Paris’s Marais district is a treat for the senses. She worked with designer-artist Matthias Kiss to create a strikingly modern but feminine mood in hazy, peachy hues.
‘We both wanted a sharp, futuristic design,’ says Michelson of the collaboration, ‘But it had to feel sensual, too.’ Clashing details, such as the sleek, mirrored surfaces and soft warmth of the carpet are delightfully French. The perfumer Frederic Malle has created a scent for the occasion, while architect Jean-Christophe Peyrieux lent a hand in the interior design.
Seeing Michelson’s singular designs all in one space is worth the visit alone – her hair jewellery is a particular favourite on the Wallpaper* Watches & Jewellery desk. Part of the designer’s ‘Algae' collection, a new hair comb is inspired by undulating sea flora, while her signature barbed-wire knots make for a surprisingly elegant hair band. ‘I wanted to design beautiful hair accessories that are easily worn in a sculptural way,’ she says. ‘The goal was to create a look that is fancy and feminine, but still has a bite.’
