Watch as Draga & Aurel’s latest furniture collection, ‘Transparency Matters,’ comes to life
Minimalism, Space Age design and Optical Art all influence ‘Transparency Matters’, a new handmade collection by Como atelier Draga & Aurel at Salone del Mobile.
Returning to Milan Design Week for the first time in over a decade, the duo convert H+ gallery’s Brera space into a retro-futuristic experience to showcase its latest collection. Comprising seating, tables, lighting, bookshelves, desks and room dividers, these are all created using coloured resin, bronze, brass, cast glass and vintage furniture in an inspired mineral palette.
‘The title of the exhibition has a double meaning,’ says Draga Obradovic. ‘Transparency matters: for us, it is the most important attitude. It refers to the transparent materials used in the collection – cast resin, glass and plexy – as well as our evolutions as designers. From transparency, we think of transformation, transition, transgression, transnational: all words that describe us and our more than ten years of working together.’
Two experiential zones will both mark a year’s experimentation with and demonstrate the versatility of these materials, from a light-filled central volume to a series of dimly lit private rooms.
